Preserve it β don't overcoat it
The most common mistake we're called in to correct on Canberra's heritage roofs is over-coating beautiful original terracotta with a paint that hides its character and can trap moisture underneath. Genuine heritage terracotta doesn't want a coating β it cleans up, repoints and re-beds to look and perform superbly as itself. We work sympathetically with these homes: matching tiles where we can, re-bedding ridges in the original profile, and renewing flashings, so the roof keeps the character that gives the home its value.
