Terracotta & concrete tile
The default roof of Belconnen, Woden and Tuggeranong's 70s and 80s streets. Do tile and metal roofs need different treatment?
Completely different. Metal fails differently — rust at fasteners and laps, lifted screws after wind — so the fix is fastener replacement, rust treatment and the right metal-rated coating. A hailstorm just came through — what should I do first?

We'd rather not, and you shouldn't want us to. A photo shows colour and grime; it can't show whether tiles are porous, pointing has let go underneath the caps, or the battens are sound — which is precisely the difference between a repair, a restoration and a replacement. The on-roof inspection is free and the quote that follows is fixed, so there's nothing gained by guessing from a photo.
Is winter a bad time to book roof work in Canberra?
Not for most of it. Repairs, gutter work, re-roofing and inspections run year-round — and winter is exactly when leaks show themselves. The one weather-sensitive step is coating: membranes need dry, frost-free days to cure properly, so restoration jobs get scheduled around Canberra's weather rather than rushed into it. Booking an inspection in winter puts you at the front of the queue, not the back.
