Roofing in Gungahlin: a district built in Colorbond
Unlike older Canberra, Gungahlin was built from the late 1990s onward almost entirely in metal β Colorbond steel on low-pitch, modern rooflines. That changes the work completely. Instead of tile restoration, Gungahlin roofs need leak detection at flashings and penetrations, replacement of failed fastener washers, and remediation of the small-eaves, low-pitch designs that can pond or back up in heavy rain. The earliest Gungahlin suburbs β Ngunnawal, Palmerston, Amaroo β now carry 20β25 year old roofs hitting their first real service point.
